How to Measure for Polyethylene Bags
Measuring A Box
- Measure the width, depth and height of the box to be lined. The depth is the shortest side.
- Add 1” to the width and 1” to the depth of the box to determine the width and depth of the bag. For the length of the bag add the depth + height + 7 inches.
- If you plan to tie off the bag add 10” to 12” to the length. Example: The box is 18” (width) x 14” (depth) x 16” (height). The liner would be 19 (width) x 15 (depth) x 37 (length).
Measuring a Round Container
- Measure the diameter and the height of the container to be lined.
- To determine to circumference of the container, multiply the diameter by 3.14.
- To determine the width of the bag, divide the circumference by 2. Add 1” for a looser fit.
- To determine the length of the bag, add the diameter to the height. Add 5” for overhang.
- Example: The round container has a 14” (diameter) x 30” (height). The bag is 23” (width) x 47” (length)
Measuring a Square Container
- Measure the width, depth and height of the container to be lined.
- To determine the width of the bag, add the width of the container + the depth of the container + 2” for a looser fit.
- To determine the length of the bag, add ½ the depth to the height. Add 5” for overhang.
- Example: The square container is 16” (wide) x 12” (depth) x 36” (height). The bag is 30” (wide) x 46” (length).
Measuring a Pallet Cover
- Measure the width, depth and height of the pallet to be covered.
- Add 2” to the width and the depth of the pallet for the size of the cover.
- The Length is determined by adding ½ the depth to the height.
- Example: The pallet is 40” (width) x 37” (depth) x 50” (height). The cover is 42” (width) x 39” (depth) x 70” (length).
